We are ecstatic to announce that Cù Bòcan Signature has been awarded ‘Double Gold’ at this year’s San Francisco World Spirit Competition. The Double Gold designation is awarded to the very few entries that receive Gold medal ratings by all members of the judging panel. These are among the finest products in the world.
This was the 20th San Francisco World Spirits Competition (SFWSC); it was founded in 2000 as a way to recognize exceptional products in the spirits industry. Since its introduction, the SFWSC has become one of the most respected and influential spirits competitions in the world. The competition is completely blind tasted by over 50 esteemed judges. Each with a distinct story and trusted palate, these seasoned experts are one of the reasons an SFWSC medal indicates the highest caliber of quality.
Sales Director, Graham Nicolson, said: “We are delighted that Cù Bòcan Signature has been recognised at these prestigious awards. With nearly 3000 entries this year, we’re proud that the judges could distinguish the excellent spirit of Cù Bòcan and offer one of the highest accolades of the competition.”
Cù Bòcan Signature is matured in a combination of Bourbon, Oloroso Sherry + North American Virgin Oak Casks. Light smoke intertwines with rich citrus and exotic spices. Bottled at 46% alc./vol, our Signature expression is non-chill filtered and natural colour.
Nose – At the beginning, aromas are of coconuts and cream with some botanic notes of parsley and coriander. The smoke slowly emerges, but only drifting past the nose. Leaving with a mesmeric mix of lime, grapefruit and tangerines with rich almond and aniseed.
Taste – Initially feather light, followed by a honeyed smoke; toasted almonds. The rich spice of cloves, cinnamon and star anise create an enigmatic elegance. Imagine a café latte with fresh chocolate shavings.
Finish – Light with a hint of sweet smoke.
Subtly smoky, surprisingly sweet, it opens up the world of lightly peated whisky. Available from specialist retailers and online!
