Join us on a journey of flavour, unravel subtleties of smoke, characterful casks, and the mastery of maturation as our Global Brands Ambassador Scott Adamson explores the Cù Bòcan range.
Earlier this year we released our fifth expression within our Creation series: Creation #5, believed to be the first single malt Scotch whisky to have been matured in Colombian Andean Oak casks. In terms of its impact on colour, aroma, flavour and mouthfeel, it is aromatic and floral, (orange blossom and rose) and exotic and fruity (mango, papaya, passion). The nose is fresh and elegant with a spicy and resinous character. The palate is round, soft and sweet. Cù Bòcan Creation #5 was distilled in December 2011 and initially matured in refill American oak hogsheads before being filled into Andean Oak casks in June 2021. A little over a year later the whisky was removed from cask.
At the start of Summer we released a brand new age stated whisky to the range… Cù Bòcan 12 Year Old. We used Caribbean rum casks from both Barbados and Guyana for maturing this expression which, combined with our subtly smoky spirit, resulted in flavours of grilled pineapple, sea salt, ginger and white chocolate. The casks sourced from Barbados provide a range of fresh tropical fruits and invigorating maritime notes. Known for the famed Demerara River, Guyana is home to some of the fullest bodied rums in the Caribbean. These casks have added more depth and warming spice
The perfect dram for warmer weather, Cù Bòcan 12 Year Old transports us to long Scottish Summer nights, spent with friends by a campfire on the beach.
And last but definitely not least, join Scott has he takes us through our Signature expression – where it all started. In the whisky that made our name, light smoke intertwines with rich citrus and exotic spices. Subtly smoky, surprisingly sweet, it opens up the world of lightly peated whisky.
We filmed these videos with @SceneitMedia at the beautiful @FoyersLodge overlooking Loch Ness. We hope you enjoy these short tasting videos with Scott, and #UnlocktheUnusual with Cù Bòcan.
