Kurokabegura Japanese New Make Spirit

20 cl

DESCRIPTION

In the peaceful coastal town of Takanabe-cho, where the Hyuga Sea meets the shadow of Mount Osuzu, tradition and craftsmanship come together in harmony. This is home to the Kurokabegura Distillery, where a new chapter in Japanese whisky is being written.

Owned by Takara Shuzo Co. Ltd, the same company behind Scotland’s Tomatin Distillery, Kurokabegura brings over 100 years of brewing and distilling experience to life – blending Japanese tradition with modern mastery. The distillery boasts copper pot stills made in Scotland, their design inspired by those from the historic Shirakawa Distillery.

The distillery itself was established in 1952 where it has produced award-winning cask-aged shochu, featuring around 85 unique expressions. That expertise in maturation is now poured into whisky – with casks carefully handled in their on-site cooperage, allowing the whisky to develop with precision and care.

Kurokabegura Single Malt is made entirely in Japan from 100% malted barley. It follows the standards set by the Japan Spirits & Liquors Makers Association; matured for a minimum of three years in wooden casks of up to 700 litres, and bottled at a minimum of 40% ABV.

Today, we invite you to enjoy a rare first glimpse of this whisky’s future – with a limited release of its new make spirit.
